What is Offset Printing?
It is a method of printing that is very commonly used today. When you pick up your favorite magazine, publication or catalog just remember that it went through a special process involving a high speed machine with rolls of paper that weight 2000 pounds. It also involves computers, metal plates, sharp knives and rubber blankets. More than 50% of print work in this country is done with offset printing. There is a very unique characteristic of offset printing where the image and non-image are of the same surface level. Offset printing use a process called lithography also known as litho offset printing.
There are Two Primary Types of Offset Printing Services:
- Web-Fed Offset Printing: It is offset presses when printing is done on a single, continuous sheet of paper that is fed from a large roll. The sheet is cut into your desired page size. The sizes can vary.
- Sheet-Fed Offset Printing: This is an offset press where the printing is on single sheets of paper as they are fed to the press one at a time.
